On April 29th, 2021, Robert Gooding-Williams (Columbia University) accepted the inaugural Prize for Distinguished Achievement in Social Philosophy. The ceremony, co-hosted by the Philosophy Departments at the New School for Social Research and Vanderbilt University, was held online as a result of the pandemic. Professor Gooding-Williams delivered a lecture, “Du Bois, Democracy and Aesthetic Education,” that was followed by brief comments by Cristina Beltrán (NYU) and Linda Zerilli (Chicago).  The lecture was attended by colleagues, former students, and members of the larger community.
